Most of Kinnaur enjoys a temperate climate due to its high elevation, with long winters from October to May, and short summers from June to September. The lower parts of the Sutlej Valley and the Baspa Valley receive monsoon rains. The Baspa valley receives highest rainfall in July month. The upper areas of the valleys fall mainly in the rain-shadow area. These areas are considered to be arid regions, similar to the climate of Tibet and Central Asian countries study by the IIT Delhi in 2016 established that Kinnaur district has the cleanest air in the country
Portions of Kinnaur is situated high in the Himalayas. Where vegetation is sparse but due to hard working people you can get to see a big orchards of apple ,apricots , almonds and many other dry fruits. At lower altitudes of temperate trees are found including oaks ,chestnut, Nevza, the areas highly elevated far from original settlement known as KANDA are mainly used for aggregating potatoes ,pea,Barley, and also are used as grazing field in summer for castles (YAK,DZO) Himalayan sheep.
The culture of the Kinnaur is known as one of Oldest culture, the word kinner signifying kinnaur is being used in epic script mahabarata .there is a scared deity in every village and all villagers are devoted to that deity. The most of the village rituals are headed by that very deity since after the teaching of Guru PADAM SAMBAV arrived in Kinnaur. The belief system of people's have a bit shifted away from deity towards Buddhism. In The present scenario the Buddhist lamas and pujari of deities work all together believing both the deity and Buddhism as sacred and preserving the culture of Kinnaur.
The actual fact of Oldest villages of kinnaur are still unknown, but it's been set the villages were settled with the thousand year old deity. These kinnaur deity are known as (SHU) which means the dharama protectors. These are bit different from the Hindu Devi devta .Kinnauri tribe were the Arya samaj but it is also said that the kinner people were the native citizens of the region today knows kinnaur. The Buddhism also arrived in the 8th century and was spread by the guru Padam sambav. The Richen Zangpo the great translator has built 108 stupas among which several are located in kinnaur.

And the marks in local dilect known as "Gurjas" located in many villages of kinnaur some of are sunnam Gurjas ,Rarang Gurjas ....
